A shot from the house of Kableshkov in Koprivshtitsa.
Koprivshtitsa is a small town in Stara Planina, famous for its rebellious past and it's characteristic colorful houses. The town is an architectural reserve and for Bulgarians - a symbol of the Revival spirit and the April Uprising of 1876.
Todor Kableshkov was one of the youngest leaders of the rebellion. When the rebellion was crushed by the Ottoman army, Kableshkov committed suicide, despite his family who had more than enough money to ransom him and get him out of jail. Kableshkov was only 25 years old when he died.
The house of Kableshkov is one of the wealthiest (if not the richest) house in Koprivshtitsa - no visit to the town will be complete without seeing the place.
These days there was a scandal about a local businessman who tried to build in the area of the architectural reserve. There was such an uproar from all over Bulgaria, that the authorities just had to stop the plan. Koprivshtitsa is symbolic for Bulgaria and it should stay the way it is, no matter what some think or want.
If you come to Bulgaria, do visit the town - you'll hear stories of rebellion and of hope :)
Wishing you a successful Tuesday :)
