Happy 3rd of March, Bulgarians!
Today Bulgaria celebrates Liberation day.
On the 3rd of March 1878 in the suburb of Istambul, called San Stefano a preliminary treaty was signed that ended the two year Russian-Turkish war (1877-1878).
This treaty and the congress in Berlin that followed (which tore Bulgaria into 5 pieces and I won't go into any more details right now) techinically put Bulgaria back on the European map, after 500 years under Ottoman rule.
Today is a national holiday in Bulgaria and we celebrate the courage and valliance of all those who fought to set us all free.
